許文融（ 1964 －）教授的藝術創作，可說是水墨與油畫、雕塑均擅長，而寫實與抽象的風格兼具。他早年的繪畫風格，主要是從生活經驗出發，在寫實中略帶有寫意的意味，當中最常見的主題，即是以作者最熟悉的動物－「牛」為描繪對象，展現田野間的純樸風光。自美國學成後，許文融的創作技巧更為純熟紮實，表現內涵也更形多元寬廣。

此次本館所展出許文融作品共約百餘件，包含水墨、油畫、複合媒材及雕塑。從平面到立體，作品形式多元且風格各異，充分彰顯許文融勇於突破、開拓新境的創作精神。同時，藝術家在艱困環境下培育出堅忍的性格，進而不斷地勤奮用功，細心體察週遭的人文與自然，從作品中多處可見許氏對臺灣風土、世間萬物的觀察與感悟。藉由此次展出，庶幾使民眾認識這位臺灣藝壇的後起之秀，共同見證其人生與藝術的豐富奮鬥歷程。

Hsu Wen-jung （ 1964 －） mastered both the traditional Chinese ink painting and Western oil painting. One finds both realistic and abstract styles in his works. Hsu’s early works, mostly realistic with a hint of abstraction, emerged out of his personal experiences of life. Those works often depicted cattle and explored the simplistic life on the field. After the USA period, Hsu developed stronger skills and wider subjects.

In this exhibition, we present more than one hundred pieces of Hsu’s works, including ink painting, oil painting, mixed media, and sculpture. From 2D to 3D, these works have variety of forms and styles, all embodying Hsu’s courage of breaking away from the old and of venturing into the untried. Growing up in difficult situations, Hsu cultivated a persevering character; his close observation of people and nature reflects in his understanding of Taiwanese landscapes and folk lives. We hope this exhibition can introduce to audience this artist of the new generation and present an opportunity to appreciate his unceasing endeavors in life and art.
